In the cab
Childhood spent in Dodd’s Transport trucks alongside his father — seeing first-hand what drivers and operators deal with every day.
VAPTA isn’t software designed from a distance. It’s built by people with real, on-the-ground experience of commercial fleets, workshops and compliance — people who know what a PMI looks like at 7am, what happens when a vehicle goes VOR, and what a DVSA visit really asks for.
Meet the team →VAPTA started with a simple frustration: the systems available to fleets and workshops didn’t reflect how the work actually gets done. Paper inspection sheets, disconnected spreadsheets and software that needed a manual to run a basic report.
So we built VAPTA around the real process — from the driver’s daily walkaround and the technician’s inspection, through the workshop job card and the parts order, to the invoice and the compliance report. One connected platform, designed by people who understand every step.
Today VAPTA supports everyone from independent mobile repairers working from a single van to multi-site workshops, dealer networks and national fleet operators — and we’re growing.

VAPTA’s story starts long before the software. Our founder, Zak Perry, grew up in the cab of Dodd’s Transport trucks, where his father drove for many years. Road haulage wasn’t just an industry — it was family life.
When his father set up a small fleet of his own, Zak left school early and went straight to work — for the family fleet and for a local commercial vehicle repair garage in Chesterfield, learning the trade as a fitter and HGV mechanic.
“Moving into technology, I was stunned by how powerful and impactful software can be in supporting people and businesses. I spent many years working alongside some very talented software developers and founders. When I was due a change, I found myself back in our industry — this time on the parts side.
That’s when the VAPTA barcoded stock control solution was born. It didn’t need much encouragement to launch, and soon became the leading system for independent factors. Then the requests started coming from our users — workshop control, inspections, parts control and more. So we worked hard together to deliver the best module in every aspect of our industry, and VAPTA’s performance shows its success.”
